China CT Steel Structure Company has signed a contract with Iraq for a 5,000-square-meter sports activity center project

This collaborative project involves the construction of a 5,000-square-meter multi-functional sports activity center in a city in Iraq. With a total investment of approximately 3.5 million RMB, the project is being undertaken by China’s CT Steel Structure Company, which is responsible for the entire service lifecycle—encompassing overall design, steel component prefabrication, transportation, on-site installation, and subsequent commissioning. The project is scheduled for completion within a three-month timeframe and strictly adheres to local Iraqi building codes as well as international standards for steel structure construction, thereby ensuring that project quality meets all benchmarks and that safety remains fully under control.

The project boasts a total floor area of ​​5,000 square meters. Its main structure consists of a single-story steel frame, with a partial two-story section designated for ancillary facilities. Standing 18 meters tall, the building features a large-span tubular truss roof design and an open, column-free interior layout that maximizes the utilization of indoor space. The interior layout is planned to accommodate:

• one standard basketball court
• four badminton courts
• two tennis courts

Additionally, the facility includes supporting areas such as a gymnasium, a lounge, equipment storage rooms, administrative offices, and restrooms. This comprehensive design meets the diverse needs of the local community—ranging from daily fitness routines and sports instruction to small-scale athletic competitions and public cultural events—and, upon completion, will stand as one of the region's largest and most fully equipped comprehensive sports venues.

The project's primary steel structure utilizes Q345B-grade steel, balancing both structural strength and cost-effectiveness. All structural components are prefabricated at domestic production facilities; following rigorous quality inspections, they are transported via ocean freight to the construction site in Iraq, thereby effectively guaranteeing both component precision and construction efficiency. To address Iraq's specific climatic conditions—characterized by high temperatures, aridity, and frequent wind gusts—the project employs a combination of two-component anti-corrosion coatings and shot-blasting rust removal techniques. These measures enhance the steel structure's resistance to corrosion and rust, thereby extending the building's overall service life. Furthermore, the roofing system incorporates thermal insulation panels integrated with translucent design elements; this approach not only reduces energy consumption but also ensures ample natural interior lighting, aligning perfectly with principles of environmental protection and energy conservation. During the construction phase, a hybrid approach combining integral hoisting and on-site assembly is employed. This process is supported by specialized hoisting equipment and precision surveying instruments to facilitate real-time monitoring of installation accuracy, effectively resolving the technical challenges inherent in installing large-span steel structures while ensuring both construction quality and safety.

The contract between the two parties clearly delineates key terms and conditions, including the project scope, construction standards, schedule milestones, quality requirements, payment terms, and liabilities for breach of contract. China CT Steel Structure Company commits to completing the project construction strictly in accordance with the agreed schedule, ensuring that the project passes final acceptance on the first attempt, and further undertakes to provide one year of free post-completion maintenance services. The Iraqi party is responsible for providing the construction site, coordinating with relevant local authorities to secure construction permits, and ensuring both a safe environment at the construction site and unimpeded access for material transport. Furthermore, both parties shall establish a regular communication mechanism to promptly resolve any issues arising during the project's implementation, thereby ensuring its smooth and successful advancement.
